about

(words: Dòmhnall Ruadh Chorùna, tune: Robbie Greig, arr: Greig/Morrison/Stewart)
Robbie Greig: vocals; Pàdruig Morrison: piano; Charlie Stewart: double bass

Dòmhnall Ruadh Chòruna was a well-known WWI poet. Robbie wrote a tune to this song after hearing the bàrd recite it for Dr. John MacInnes (SA1966/053). The poet longs to fly home to North Uist from the trenches, not even stopping in England! He praises North Uist and describes the horror of war.
